A foray into mathematics, sent out to a mail-art club – June 2014
Each participant was assigned a number. The gradient of the line made by x squared over twelve was calculated at x = each number, and each gradient was cut into one of twelve breeze blocks. The dust from each cut was carefully collected, and each was mixed with an equal quantity of white dust to make a unique shade of grey. Each participant was then sent out a sampler of their shade of grey.
The shades of grey were remarkably similar. A physics person did some maths that explained why.
